Frames of reference (FoR) 22 – 24th June 2022

Frames of Reference (FoR) is the annual student seminar conducted by the School of Media and Cultural Studies (SMCS), Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai. The 2022 edition of FoR dealt with ‘Interrogating Gender in Hindi Cinema’ and was conducted online owing to the extended Covid-19 pandemic.

Ms. Meenakshi Shedde, a film programmer of international repute and member of the project Advisory Committee, inaugurated the webinar with a keynote speech.

The three-day seminar saw the participation of 20 post-graduate students from different Indian universities who presented their papers, including themes of: The Female Gaze, Screen Representation, Queer Trajectories, Gender and the City, Victims and Vigilantes, Masculinities on Screen, Viewing Cinema and Horror through a Gendered Lens.
